W e l c o m e

Welcome to my home page, portfolio, web site -- while I am not currently looking for a job, I keep up this website to maintain a record of the things I have done in my still young librarianship career. I am always looking for new people who share similar interests, and I would be happy to talk to you about any of my past projects or future plans, and discuss how we might collaborate.

reflection of myself Who am I? I am a library student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I am insterested in public libraries as community centers, as the 'people's university', as a place of civic and political engagement. I see an opportunity for libraries to play a larger role than they have in the recent past, shedding the 'book check-out' image and instead fostering community action and community involvement. How can libraries revitalize broken neighborhoods? How can librarians connect the historically underserved and disadvantaged with resources to help them improve their homes and their lives?

Where do I want to be in twenty years? I want to be at the helm of a public library system, effecting change in the community I serve. I want to be coming up with innovative programs that bring together people of all ethnicities, of all socio-economic backgrounds. I want to foster tolerance and understanding between clashing cultures through education and awareness.

Everyone belongs at the library.
