Milestone 5 > Scenarios

Due Date: 10/31/2007 | Owner: Chia-Hui Lin

For this milestone, we generated scenarios that described the context of the user using our system. We began by identifying the specific goals which drive the personas to interact with CourseNav. Next, we tried to brainstorm realistic tasks that our personas would like or need to carry out in order to achieve their goals. Based on different character traits, each persona would use different features of the CourseNav in distinct ways. Also, the distractions from the surroundings where the persona is in were considered to help us picture the persona's context of use. Furthermore, aiming to develop a full, rich scenario, we decided to include not only how the system benefits our personas but also which features may get them frustrated.

Each group member then took on the identity of one persona to create a scenario in a narrative format and received critiques from the team. In the process of reviewing each other's scenarios, we realized the system we designed could not meet all personas' expectation and needs. Moreover, by examining the problems each persona encountered in using CourseNav, we had the opportunity to diagnose the potential flaws in our system. Therefore, we went back to revise our lo-fi prototypes according to what we have observed in our scenario creation.
